The very tip of the boot of Italy, the province of Reggio Calabria is a mountainous land surrounded by the Mediterranean sea. But the mountains in the Aspromonte National Park do not make it a harsh province, quite the opposite. Softening it are the specialties of the area: Zibibbo wines from the "Violet Coast", Pignolata (pastry) from Reggio, truffles from Pizzo, and the thirst quenching "cedrata". Take a walk along the seaside of Reggio, go out to the monastery in Teresti, and be taken over by the suggestive "Palio" in Ribusa di Stilo. But don't leave before you've swum in the sea near Scilla, Bova Marina, Capo Bruzzano and Rocella Jonica, Blue Flag in 2010.
